Dear Birth Mother,

PriceThere is no way that anyone can thank you enough for the unselfish decision you have made to chose adoption.  I never thought that adoption would be an option for my wife and I; however, I believe in fate and that the Lord chooses for us and ultimately we are not in control.  For my wife and I, we both feel that adoption is the right choice for us.  This was a decision that we did not enter into lightly.  We have really prayed about this choice.  Our hearts have compelled us to take this step.

Baby Boy

As a male you would think that all I would want is a son to raise but that's not so. All that my wife and I could ask for is a healthy child. If it were a boy I would concentrate on helping him become a man that respects everyone he encounters. I can see us having some real, down to earth conversations so that he could avoid some of life's common pitfalls. I can also hear my wife telling me to not be to hard on him at times. But I would love him no matter what mistakes he might make.

Baby Girl

Jon FishingIf we were blessed with a baby girl I would really be on guard then. I can see us going to a daughter and dads dance and taking her to work with me and encouraging her in every way to be a strong independent young lady. I can see myself beginning to save as much money as I could so she would have a wedding of her choosing. I can hear my wife saying to me, “Leave those two alone,” when she brings over her first boyfriend.

Education

I would want any child that comes into our home to be educated, get a college degree, and have opportunities that I never had. I would want every action I take in raising him or her to be understood as an act of love. I would want our home to be a home they would always want to come home to and a place where they would always feel safe and loved.

A Child who Dreams

FamilyFrom time to time I tell my wife about things I want: a new car, some new hunting equipment, a new grill, or even land or a cabin in the woods. I tell her a man’s got to be able to dream from time to time. I hope that I can raise a child who dreams too and who I can encourage to do great things with their life. Honestly, right now, all I want is a healthy child. I’m not sure if anyone is ever really completely ready, but I feel ready for the challenge and for the privilege of caring for a child.

Thank you for reading my letter and I hope you find that right family for your important decision.

Sincerely,

Jon
