We frequently collaborate with other adoption agencies and/or attorneys who specialize in adoption when dealing with interstate or international adoptions.

ACCAS provides in depth domestic adoption services that include; pre-placement education, adoption home studies to families that reside in South Carolina, post-placement supervision and reports, as well as other domestic adoption services. We also work with adoption attorneys to provide cost effective and timely domestic adoption services; such as, home studies, parent training classes, birth parent counseling, background investigation reports and relinquishment of parental rights.

In order to adopt a child, prospective adoptive parents must complete a pre-placement home study. The home study qualifies prospective parents to adopt a child in the state of South Carolina and throughout the United States and abroad.

When a birth mother makes an adoption plan for her child she is often involved in the selection process. She generally chooses parents for her child by reviewing adoptive parents’ profiles, sanitized home studies and picture portfolios of several qualified families. These items help to assure the birth mother that she is making the best decision for her child.

According to national statistics, U. S. domestic infant placements have decreased in recent years. As a result, many adults are choosing international adoption, or other means such as surrogacy or embryo adoption to expand their families.

Our agency staff strives to be current and knowledgeable about international adoption requirements. Many of our families have adopted children from countries outside of the United States. Some of the countries include Guatemala, China, Russia, Colombia, Ukraine, Taiwan, the Philippines, Viet Nam and Thailand.
